For donors

Does my donation go directly to my Cause of choice?
No, your donation is to the American Online Giving Foundation, Inc. (AOGF), which allows you to recommend disbursements to the Cause you support.

Is my donation guaranteed to arrive at my chosen Cause?
As a Section 501(c)(3) public charity subject to US law, we cannot guarantee your donation will be sent to the Cause of your choice. We are not always able to deliver the funds to the Cause you requested for various reasons, e.g., the Cause no longer exists or is no longer in good standing with the IRS, cannot be contacted, refuses the donation, etc. In these rare circumstances, AOGF will select a similar Cause to the one you have chosen and reassign the funds to that Cause.

For Causes

Why did our Cause receive a check?
You may be visiting this site because your organization received a check or other payment from AOGF. This was made possible by employees or customers of companies recommending support for your Cause using the Benevity online platform. The funds were then disbursed to you by AOGF and may include one or more individual donations as well as matching funds and corporate grants from one or more companies.

How can our Cause access donor information and donation reports?
Once your Cause Profile has been completed and approved, you can access donation reports, donor comments, and monthly breakdowns for disbursements through the Benevity Causes Portal. Complete your Cause Profile here.

How can our Cause receive future disbursements electronically?

Uncashed, lost, misdirected and/or reissued checks and payment delays are a huge problem in the corporate giving landscape, preventing the growth and potential of organizations like yours. AOGF encourages and helps Causes receive more donations through electronic means, which eliminates the time and expense associated with check processing.

Here’s how it works:

  • Register for your Cause Profile on the Benevity Causes Portal

  • Sign in once your organization is approved.

  • Click “Donation Method” in the left navigation and follow the steps provided to set up EFT or other electronic payment.
